The Hubei key laboratory of the Roadway Bridge and
Structural Engineering was established in September 2004. The laboratory passed
through the examination and check hold by the Education department and the
Technological department of the Hubei Province with excellent grades. The
laboratory is under the joint construction of both the Hubei Province and the
Wuhan University of Technology through integrating many excellent disciplines
such as the civil engineering, the materials science and engineering, the
transportation engineering. The laboratory currently has many research
directions such as: the intelligent disaster prevention and mitigation of
structures, the traffic environment, the geotechnical engineering, the bridge
monitoring technology, the high-performance road materials etc. The area of the
laboratory is about 8000 m2. There are many facilities such as the 3×3m shaking table, the fiber Bragg
grating sensor (96) structural health monitoring experimental platform, the
testing facilities for static and dynamic responses and many other advanced
equipment. The laboratory can award the Doctor and Master degrees and accept
post-doctoral fellow in many disciplines such as: the Structural Engineering, the
Bridge and Tunnel engineering, the Disaster Prevention and Reduction
Engineering and the Geotechnical Engineering.
Laboratory pay much attention to the academic exchanges
with the domestic and oversea universities and research institutes such as the
agency in United States, France, Japan, Australia and etc. Many staffs and
students of the laboratory have been studied or carried out the scientific
research cooperation abroad. In addition, many famous domestic and foreign
experts and scholars are invited to give presentation.
Overall positioning: Aims to investigate the fundamental
theory, crucial techniques and real application in structural engineering, road
engineering and bridge engineering. To provide technological support and talent
guarantee for the development of the civil engineering of the Hubei Province.
Development goals: To reach the leading levels at home
and abroad in some research fields. To construct an important agency for the
academic research and talent cultivation in the HubeiProvince and China.
