Ten doctors and master graduates, under
the lead of director LIU Mu-yu, have gone to the construction site of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao
Bridge on August 17. They will visit and practice on the spot for three days.
Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, which will connect Hong Kong, Zhuhai and
Macao, is the most biggest projection combined tunnel and bridge in the world. The
total investment will be 72.6 billion yuan and the construction period is three
years, which is from 2013 to 2016. The total length of the main part of the
bridge is about 35 kilometers, in which the length of the bridge over sea is
about 28.52 kilometers and the length of the tunnel under the sea is about
6.753 kilometers. The width of the bridge is 33.1 meters with six lanes in two
directions and the designed running velocity is 100 kilometers per hour. It will
only spend 15 or 20 minutes from Hong Kong to Zhuhai or Macao by driving a car,
which can benefit to attract the investor in Hong Kong to invest in Pearl River
Delta and promote the tourism in Pearl River Delta.
PAN Jun, who is the chief engineering of
the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge project department from China Zhong Tie Major
Bridge Engineering Group Cooperation Limited (MBEC), received professor LIU and
the graduates warmly. Professor LIU and the students visit the bridge
construction site constructed by MBEC and long-span prefabricated factory of
Steel concrete composite beam with the guidance of engineer PAN. He also described
the advanced construction technologies and the conquered difficulties during
construction. The achieved innovation research results and advanced construction
management experience were presented lastly.
