Professor A. G. Atkins, the Academician of Royal Academy of Engineering, visited our lab



On May 6, 2014, Professor A. G. Atkins, the Academician of Royal Academy of Engineering, visited our lab with the accompany of TANG Chang-fei, vice director of the personnel division. Director LIU Mu-yu, professor TU Jian-wei, associate professor ZHOU Qiang and associate professor WANG Xue-liang welcome professor Atkins warmly at the laboratory experiment hall, and introduced the research topics and parts of research results and parts of test equipment of our lab. There has a very good communication and discussion, which give professor Atkins a deep impression. 


Introduction to the 

Professor a. g. Atkins is A doctor of philosophy and doctor of science, of the university of Cambridge, UK, the Royal Academy of engineering. He is a world famous scholar in the field of solid mechanics, who taught at the university of Michigan, the university of Oxford, a former British engineering at the university of reading. Now a visiting professor at the imperial college London, UK university in mechanical engineering professor, mechanical engineering association member, the royal British registered engineers, the Royal Academy of engineering, and the royal society evaluation experts. 

 

The research field of Professor a. g. Atkins is various materials (metal, plastic, composite materials, biological materials, etc.) and ice flow of large deformation and fracture behavior, the research of macro and micro influence each other. In the field of ship collision and grounding, a. g. Atkins professor focus on large deformation of the hull plate, tearing behavior and failure criteria.
